NEW INJUNCTION
A second injunction was granted to Monsanto by Mr Justice Timothy Walker on 18/9/98. The terms of the injunction extend the attempted gag on the genetiX snowball Campaign. The original defendants who pulled up GM oilseed rape on 4th July and Andrew Wood, the press officer, will now be in contempt of court if they: trespass on Monsanto's land and premises; uproot, destroy or otherwise damage or interfere with any of Monsanto's crop plants; plant or insert into the land or leave any crop or other article at a Monsanto site; or attempt or conspire with another or others to do any such act. In addition the six named defendants will be held liable for any damage caused at Monsanto sites by "members" of genetiX snowball. Perhaps "New genetiX snowball"or "genetiX cannonball"or maybe "genetiX fireball"should take over?

Another interesting facet to the injunction is that anyone identifying themselves as or proven in court to be a "member"of genetiX snowball faces contempt and committal even if they haven't been served with injunction papers.

The new injunction is another attempt at bullying campaigners into silence.

Let's show them that it just won't work.

On the above information it is not surprising to hear that Monsanto have been in touch with a leading crisis management PR firm Hill & Knowles, documents leaked to the Guardian newspaper suggests the two are in active discussions. One PR company not being enough for the mess they are in - they also seem to be working with good old Burston-Marsteller as well. They should be in good hands there as their new head of corporate management is said to be an FBI veteran of 27 years service, during which time he was head of the joint terrorism task force in New York City and led the hunt for the World Trade Centre bombers.
