NICK
DRAKE/NO REPLY...TIM BUCKLEY/ONCE HE WAS
Tim Buckley and Nick
Drake two prodigious and precocious talents who died far too young. Neither
managed to achieve the success they so rightly deserved during their lifetime.
Tim Buckley did change his musical direction in search of fame and fortune,
but the critics who had criticised his earlier work turned against him
claiming that he had 'sold-out' in search of financial success. Nick Drake
only released three albums and never lived long enough to follow an alternative
route to stardom, he was artistically incorruptible so it is unlikely
that he would have modified his ideals towards a more accessible pop music.
Both Tim and Nick had an instinctive dramatic construction of lyrics,
Tim's live performances were wild and emotional, Nick's quiet and reflective.
They have both continued to reach new generations of listeners posthumously,
they both died of drug excess one from Heroin the other from Tryptizol.
This book re-examines their careers and re-reviews every track on every
album by the two singer song-writers.

THE
INCREDIBLE STRING BAND, GENTLY TENDER
This book investigates and re-evaluates the group from their early days
in Edinburgh, the town that spawned so many singer songwriters. The solo
recordings (after the demise of The Incredible String Band) of both Robin
Williamson and Mike Heron are also included, track-by-track. Robin Williamson
has also delved into Celtic history publishing books and writing soundtracks
for films and plays. Mike Heron moved away from folk music to rock 'n'
roll, only to return to acoustic music later in his career. The duo have
played in performance together recently and although they continue to
record separately the chances of a 'reunion record' has become more likely
with the passing of time. This book will have you returning to your 1960s
collection and re-listening anew.

ARTHUR
LEE, LOVE STORY
A genius, an innovator,
an enigma. Arthur Lee's group LOVE recorded one of the greatest albums in
the history of popular music, 'Forever Changes'. He never allowed his music
to stagnate, his changes of direction and style made his music difficult
to categorise. All his officially released albums are reviewed track-by-track,
with the addition of some later live recordings. Arthur Lee is at present
serving time in an American prison under the 'three strikes and out' legislation.
This book presents Arthur as a great musician whose work has been sometimes
exhilarating, sometimes exasperating but never less than interesting.
